"AI Native School" program launches, training 130 school teachers in AI to pass on to students
Mobicom Group, in partnership with AI Academy Asia, launched the "AI Native School" program today (August 18, 2026).
"AI Native School" is a comprehensive program designed to create and develop model schools that integrate artificial intelligence into the educational environment correctly and effectively. Under the program, general education teachers will be taught AI from the ground up. Since teachers must be the primary guides in helping children understand AI and use it appropriately, the program begins with them.
The program is being implemented in alignment with government and Ministry of Education policy, and the Ministry is backing the initiative.
A starting point for building model schools that show how education can develop in the age of AI
Minister of Education L. Enkh-Amgalan attended the launch. He said:
"Technological development is rapidly changing teaching methods and learning environments around the world. Teachers and students now need to use new technology correctly and effectively, build their knowledge and skills, and keep pace with global developments in education. Mobicom Group has invested in technology in the education sector for many years, implementing projects and programs aimed at expanding opportunities for children and young people to learn and grow. AI Native School is a timely project aimed at equipping teachers and students with the knowledge and skills needed in the age of artificial intelligence. Although the project is being implemented across four schools, I see it as the starting point for building model schools that show how Mongolia's education sector can develop in the age of artificial intelligence."
The Minister said he is confident this will translate into real work — teachers using AI to improve teaching quality, increase productivity, and support each student's development more effectively. He also emphasized that students can become a new generation of citizens who don't merely consume AI but use it creatively to solve problems.
Building on school experience and results, the plan is to extend the program in stages to other "Smart Education" schools
Mobicom Group, the program's initiator and funder, launched its "Smart Education" project in 2021 under the motto "Equal opportunity for every child." With 11 more digital classrooms fully equipped this year, the project now has 30 digital classrooms nationwide and is working to reach more than 60,000 students and over 3,000 teachers across 21 provinces and 9 districts.
B. Munkhzorig, Deputy Director for Group Business at Mobicom Corporation, said:
"Of the 19 schools where the Smart Education project was implemented, 11 applied to join this program. We are starting with four schools this year. More than 130 teachers and administrators at the four participating schools will master everything from the fundamentals of artificial intelligence to practical skills for using it in their daily work and teaching. Beyond that, they will learn to independently develop real solutions such as websites and applications tailored to their own needs. The training will run for a total of nine weeks.
AI Native School is a continuation of our Smart Education project — its next step. With Smart Education, we brought the possibilities of technology closer to children and schools. With this program, we aim to turn those possibilities into knowledge, skills, and real-world use. The AI Native School we envision is not a school where every child uses AI. It is a school where teachers and students know what to use artificial intelligence for, when, and how to use it properly."
Working to create opportunities for young Mongolians to compete globally in the technology sector through AI
AI Academy Asia is implementing the program. Its founder and CEO, B. Bolor-Erdene, shared his thoughts at the launch:
"Artificial intelligence is now part of our daily lives whether we want it or not, and that can't be reversed. So we need to build the habit of using AI intelligently, correctly, ethically, and creatively. People say, 'How did we ever live without the internet?' Soon we'll start wondering how we ever lived without artificial intelligence. AI Academy Asia implements projects and programs that build AI knowledge and skills among teachers at the national level. There is a real need to bring artificial intelligence into the education sector and for teachers and students to learn to use it creatively. We are working to create opportunities for young Mongolians to compete globally in the technology sector through AI. What we have to learn won't be easy, but since our teachers will be passing it on to their students, I ask them to approach it responsibly."
Applying what they learned in training to a teacher's day-to-day work
Representatives of the teaching community shared their experience with the teachers selected for the program.
U. Davaa-Ochir and N. Badamtsetseg, mathematics and IT teachers at the general education school in Erdenebulgan soum, Khuvsgul province, said:
"We completed the National Artificial Intelligence Campaign in 2026. We gained experience by teaching AI education at our own school, delivering AI instruction to 369 students in grades 6 through 12 over four months. We gave students entry, progress, and final assessments, with independent assignments for each topic. At the start of the course, students were using tools like ChatGPT and Copilot without understanding how they worked. Through the AI classes, they learned the fundamentals — how AI works, the value of data, and machine learning. Other teachers at the school also took the AI course. We now prepare our lessons using AI on the Mozaik platform and create exam materials using Gemini's gem tool."
B. Ganbold, IT teacher at Baga Tenger International School in Ulaanbaatar, said:
"In 2026 I joined the National Artificial Intelligence Campaign, studied systematically, and became familiar with practical applications. I began applying what I learned during the training to my day-to-day work as a teacher. Teachers who took part in the campaign then came together to build something real. Our team has 45 members in total. Each teacher took on work in their own subject area, and we began developing the site Bishguur.mn. The bishguur is the first instrument most Mongolian children learn to play. So we decided to build a site that lets them study it independently at home. Our site was built at very low cost and was developed using artificial intelligence."
More than 130 teachers from the four selected schools will complete 27 AI lessons and share what they learn with their students.
