National AI Campaign 2026: Mongolia Now Has 1,000 AI Trainers

As the pace of artificial intelligence continues to accelerate worldwide, Mongolia is taking meaningful steps to prepare its future generations for an AI-driven world through the successful implementation of the National AI Campaign. As part of this initiative, the "Train 500 AI Teachers" Program has been successfully conducted for its second consecutive year, bringing the total number of AI trainers in Mongolia to 1,000.

Initiated by AI Academy Asia, the National AI Campaign is a five-year initiative running from 2025 to 2030 and is one of the largest AI education programs in Mongolia. Its primary objective is to train 2,500 AI-competent teachers over five years, who will in turn expand AI education and digital literacy to students and communities across the country.

Beyond learning how to use AI technologies, participating teachers have developed the capacity to educate their students on the responsible, ethical, and creative use of artificial intelligence, enabling them to become catalysts for AI literacy in their schools and communities.

The overwhelming response to this year's program reflected the growing national demand for AI education. For the 2026 cohort, the program received more than 4,000 applications from all 21 provinces, 330 soums, and every district of Ulaanbaatar. Following a rigorous selection process, 500 teachers were chosen to participate in an intensive three-month training program.

The curriculum covered key areas of modern technology, including AI fundamentals, machine learning, Python programming, vibe coding, and cloud computing. The program was delivered by internationally qualified instructors and researchers trained at Boston University and Stanford University, providing participants with world-class learning experiences.

In addition, the program integrated financial literacy sessions led by economists from Golomt Bank, allowing participating teachers to develop both digital competencies and financial knowledge through a multidisciplinary learning experience.

The 500 teachers trained through this year's program will bring AI education to more than 20,000 students, particularly in rural and remote communities across Mongolia.

Once the National AI Campaign achieves its goal of training 2,500 AI teachers, more than 100,000 students nationwide will have access to AI education. This initiative demonstrates Mongolia's commitment not only to adapting to the global AI revolution, but to becoming one of the countries actively shaping its future through education, innovation, and human capital development.
